Blaise Pascal

Blaise Pascal was born June 19, 1623, in Clermont-Ferrand, France—died August 19, 1662, in Paris. He was a famous philosopher, mathematician, scientist, inventor, and theologian. In mathematics, he was an early pioneer of probability theory. Pascal was an early pioneer in existentialism. Pascal was an avid defender of the Christian faith and had many inspirational quotes, the most famous of which is Pascal’s wager. The argument suggests a life-defining gamble: if you believe in God and he does not exist, you lose nothing. If God does exist, you gain everything.
