Charles Spurgeon

Charles Hadden Spurgeon was born on June 19, 1834, into a bustling family as the eldest of 17 children, a role that would shape his character and responsibilities from a young age. As a child, he found solace and inspiration in books, with John Bunyan’s classic work, “Pilgrim’s Progress,” captivating his imagination and laying the foundation for his spiritual development.

Though he hailed from the serene countryside, Spurgeon’s journey led him to the lively streets of London, where he would rise to prominence. As a passionate Baptist minister, he delivered sermons resonating with deep emotional and theological power, earning him the revered title of the “Prince of Preachers.” For an impressive span of 38 years, he shepherded the congregation at the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, a grand edifice that became a beacon of hope and enlightenment for many.

Throughout his impactful ministry, Spurgeon’s voice reached over a million souls, each sermon leaving an imprint on the hearts of his listeners. He celebrated the remarkable milestone of baptizing 15,000 new believers, each a testament to his fervent faith and commitment to spreading the Gospel. Despite his years of battling health challenges, Spurgeon’s spirit remained undaunted until his passing on January 31, 1892, at the age of 57 due to Bright’s disease. His extraordinary life and enduring legacy inspire countless individuals to seek a deeper connection with faith and understanding.

“It is not a matter of time so much as a matter of heart; if you have the heart to pray, you will find the time.”

“When we come to the end of self we come to the beginning of Christ.”

“The child of God knows his good works do not make him acceptable to God, for he was acceptable to God by Jesus Christ long before he had any good works.”

I believe that one reason why the church of God at this present moment has so little influence over the world is because the world has so much influence over the church.

Hold everything earthly with a loose hand, but grasp eternal things with a death-like grip
