Dietrich Bonhoeffer (4 February 1906 – 9 April 1945) was a German theologian and anti-Nazi dissident. Bonhoeffer studied theology at the University of Tübingen and Berlin. He travelled widely and spent time in the USA and UK. Following the rise of the Nazis, Bonhoeffer became active in protests against the regime. He wrote many influential books on Christianity. Bonhoeffer was vocal against the Nazi dictatorship, which ultimately cost him his freedom and led to his execution.
